Yep no idea what we are doing!

If you’re new around here I’m Rachille and I am learning to grow and preserve more food from my suburban garden in Tasmania. My goal is to be able to harvest from the garden everyday of the year.

It’s winter in the garden so things have slowed right down.. I’m planning what varieties of tomato’s to plant this year, planting a few more fruit trees and doing small jobs around the garden on days when the sun is out.

We are not perfect around here but I am trying to reduce how much plastic we use (I’m still reusing pots we have) interested in reducing the miles my food has travelled and of course growing as organically as possible.

We would love to have you join us as we learn more. Xx

With spring just around the corner, I’m starting to sow my veggie seeds. We have snow peas, beetroot and carrot seeds going in the garden and eggplant, tomatoes and capsicum on a heat mat growing next to the window inside. Growing from seed gives you access to a much wider variety of vegetables that you just don’t see in the supermarket and in the nurseries. I will be growing a range of colours and sizes in my tomato’s. Some of these are a little early, so I planted a small amount of a wide variety and will sow another lot in about 3-4 weeks.

Some might call it a mid life crisis, but for us the constant churn was exhausting. We wanted the pieces we sell and the life we live to be slower. We now offer a small collection of pieces, 100% linen scarves, stainless measuring cups pieces we use often, that are timeless. Things you use for seasons not here today gone tomorrow. We are learning to grow and preserve more food from our suburban garden in Tasmania and enjoying slow walks on the beach

It was so disappointing to see your seedlings burst from the soil only to be eaten by the birds. Put my whole succession planing out of whack 🤷🏼‍♀️😳😂 But this is what gardening is about you learn every season.

I’m reusing seedling containers I have and growing from seed if I can, trying to reduce plastic but also growing from seed gives you access to plants you just don’t see in the nursery… if you haven’t started planing and ordering your seed now’s a great time to start.
