Do you know your safety terms?
A hazard is a physical or psychosocial condition, object, or agent that has the potential to cause harm to a worker and/or to cause damage to property or the environment.
Examples of hazards are:
- Safety-related, which includes spills, heights, electrical hazards
- Biological, which includes waste and insects
- Ergonomic, which includes workstations
- Chemical, which includes fumes, liquids, and gases
- Organizational, which includes harassment, stress, and bullying
- Physical, which includes the environment, loud noise, and temperature
