Major (Retd.) Abdul Mannan, aged 68, Chairman of Sunman Group, started his business career in 1980 and has successfully established himself as a prominent industrialist of the Country. His main line of business is in the export oriented RMG and textile sectors. In addition, he is also involved in Beverage, Insurance and Airline businesses. Major (Retd.) Abdul Mannan is presently the Chairman of Eastern Insurance Co. Ltd. and Sunflower Life Insurance Co. Ltd.

Major (Retd.) Abdul Mannan, is a politically and socially responsible person. After very successful career spanning more than two decades, Mr. Mannan entered into politics and was elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Dhaka 10 constituency in 1991 and 2001. He was former Minister of State in the Ministry of Textiles during 1991-1996. Initially, he started his career as an army officer and retired as Major in 1976.
