Bangladesh's modern fashion industry began with the establishment of the first garment factories in the 1970s, pioneering with Reaz Garments (1960s as a tailor, 1973 as factory) and Desh Garments (1977). The industry grew rapidly, fueled by the 1978 export of shirts to South Korea.
