Don’t even hope for it or think about it. Just focus on doing the very best science that you can. Ask good questions, use innovative methods to answer them, and look for those unexpected results that may reveal some unexpected aspect of nature. If you are successful in your research career, then you will make lots of discoveries and have a very happy life. If you are lucky, you will make a big discovery that may even bag you a prize or two. But only if you are extraordinarily lucky will you stand any chance of winning a Nobel Prize. They are very elusive.

2. Hope That Your Experiments Fail Occasionally
There are usually two main reasons why experiments fail. Very often, it is because you screwed up in the design by not thinking hard enough about it ahead of time. Perhaps more often, it is because you were not careful enough in mixing the reagents (I always ask students if they spat in the tube or, more recently, were texting when they were labeling their tubes). কুরবানি ইসলামি শরিয়তের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ইবাদত। রাসুলুল্লাহ (সা.) হিজরতের পর প্রতি বছর কুরবানি করেছেন। তিনি কখনও কুরবানি পরিত্যাগ করেননি; বরং কুরবানি পরিত্যাগকারীদের ওপর অভিসম্পাত করেছেন।

প্রাপ্তবয়ষ্ক, সুস্থ মস্তিষ্কসম্পন্ন প্রত্যেক মুসলমান নর-নারী মুকিম ব্যক্তি, যে ১০ জিলহজ সুবহে সাদিক থেকে ১২ জিলহজ সূর্যাস্ত পর্যন্ত সময়ের মধ্যে প্রয়োজনের অতিরিক্ত নেসাব পরিমাণ সম্পদের মালিক হবে, তার ওপর কুরবানি করা ওয়াজিব হবে।

নেসাব হলো: স্বর্ণের ক্ষেত্রে সাড়ে সাত ভরি। আর রুপার ক্ষেত্রে সাড়ে বায়ান্ন ভরি। আর অন্যান্য বস্তুর ক্ষেত্রে সাড়ে বায়ান্ন ভরি রুপার সমমূল্যের সম্পদ। (টাকার অঙ্কে বর্তমানে আনুমানিক ৫৫ হাজার টাকা)

স্বর্ণ বা রুপার কোনো একটি যদি পৃথকভাবে নেসাব পরিমাণ না হয়, তবে স্বর্ণ-রুপা উভয়টি মিলে কিংবা এর সঙ্গে প্রয়োজন-অতিরিক্ত অন্য বস্তুর মূল্য মিলে সাড়ে বায়ান্ন ভরি রুপার সমমূল্যের হয়ে যায় সে ক্ষেত্রেও কুরবানি ওয়াজিব হবে।

স্বর্ণ-রুপার অলঙ্কার, নগদ অর্থ, যে জমি বার্ষিক খোরাকির জন্য প্রয়োজন হয় না এবং প্রয়োজন অতিরিক্ত আসবাবপত্র— এসবই কুরবানির নেসাবের ক্ষেত্রে হিসাবযোগ্য।

এ ক্ষেত্রে প্রয়োজনের অতিরিক্ত টাকা-পয়সা, সোনা-রুপা, অলঙ্কার, বসবাস ও খোরাকির প্রয়োজনে আসে না এমন জমি, প্রয়োজনের অতিরিক্ত বাড়ি, ব্যবসায়িক পণ্য ও অপ্রয়োজনীয় সব আসবাবপত্র, পোশাক-পরিচ্ছেদ, আসবাবপত্র, তৈজসপত্রও ধর্তব্য হবে। সে সম্পদের ওপর এক বছর অতিক্রম হওয়া শর্ত নয়।
