Happy Birthday, Mustafa Monwar!

Mustafa Monwar (September 1, 1935) is an eminent Bangladeshi artist, painter, sculptor, radio performer and professor of fine arts. He is currently the chairman of Bangladesh Shishu Academy. In 2004, he was awarded Ekushey Padak.

Monwar contributed in the country's puppet culture at a great deal. He has created some timeless Bangla puppet charatceter named Parul, Rakhal, Sharh in 'Moner Kotha'; a program for children telecsted on BTV. He had direct participation in Bangladesh Liberation War 1971.

Manwar started his career as lecturer at the East Pakistan College of Arts and Crafts. He joined Bangladesh Television as director general. Later he also served as the director general of the Shilpakala Academy and the National Media Institute.
