What happened in this blessed day also is the killing of the Leader of the Youth of Paradise, Hussain bin Ali bin Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him and his father and mother and all his family. He was killed in a great strife between two groups of Muslims, a sedition that Allah, the Almighty made our hands clean from it, so, we will not enter into it by our tongues. But our hearts engulf its pain and grief, and the power is with Allah before and after. If thy Lord willed they would have not done it!! But one thing should be noted here. What some Shiites are doing in this day of weeping and wailing, and scars and screaming, and expressing anger over killing of Hussain, may Allah be pleased with him, and what they are doing to torture themselves, and blood shedding from their faces and chests and backs, and slapping their cheeks, and plucking their hairs, and seeking closeness to Allah by striking their bodies with chains and knives. Surely, it is against Islam. It is an innovation, and evil phenomenon, and is a major sin which the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, repudiated from the perpetrators of it. He said: "Not one of us he who hit the cheeks, the construction of the sinuses, and called claiming ignorance.” (Bukhari & Muslim) Abu Musa, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, is free from al-saleqah and al-haliqah and al-shaqqah."(Bukhari & Muslim). Al-saleqah is a woman who wails, al-haliqah is the one who shaves her head for a woe and al-shaqqah is the one who tears her dress.Every act that expresses panic, anger and dissatisfaction with the will of Allah is prohibited. The best of the creation, peace be upon him, died but Muslims did not get panic on such loss. Also the best of companions (sahabah) like Omar, Othman and Ali, may Allah bless them all, were killed brutally and unfairly, and they are all better than Hussain, may Allah bless him. They were all on highest position, however, Muslims in the past and present did not do what the Shiites do to commemorate the death of Hussain, may Allah bless him!! We ask Allah, the Almighty to guide their hearts to the straight path.

In addition, these innovated and harmful acts to their bodies, and the foolishness, and distortion of the image of Islam and Muslims they are doing alienate non-Muslims from Islam. We have seen some international media hostile to Islam are keen to publish video and audio of these innovated acts, claiming that this is the real Islam, and this is what Muslims do in this day every year!!

The worst of this is what some of these innovators do that they curse righteous companions (sahaba), and call them infidels!! This is the greatest injustice and deceit, and big evil but it is demolition of the base of the religion, because they are those who carried out the message of Islam and preached its teachings. So, whoever challenge their credibility it is that they challenge the credibility of the the Quran and Sunnah. It is to blame the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his family, for ignorance and naivety that he did not find good and pious companions for his mission but these infidels and traitors!! But is a charge against Allah, the Almighty and His knowledge, wisdom and ability that He did not choose right people to accompany His Messenger, peace be upon him and his family!!

There are other group of people who hate Hussain, may Allah be pleased with him, and hold enmity and hatred against him. They celebrate this day as Eid day for them and show the joy and happiness. They wear new dress and exchange gifts, and make special food. All these acts are innovation and misguided deeds. A heresy cannot address a heresy, and an error cannot correct an error. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said: "There are people who love the kohl and bathing, and spending on the family, and take special food on this day. They are people who do not do justice to Hussain, may Allah be pleased with him. Every innovation is misguidance. Such deeds are not recommended by any of the four imams and others. Those who think these deeds as mustahabb they have no legitimate argument. The desirable act according to the majority of scholars is fasting on Ashura.”

 ...
