JM Fabrics Limited has been honored with the Sustainability Leadership Award for the outstanding performance in innovative excellence during the Made In Bangladesh Week. The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and German-based Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH jointly organized the award-giving program for the third time in the country.

New Asia Group, one of the oldest textile and apparel manufacturing conglomerates that exports to large global retailers, was handed the HSBC Business Excellence Award for its efforts to achieve better results in environmental, social and governance parameters. Mr. Azizur Rahim Chowdhury the Director of New Asia Group received the 2nd HSBC Business Excellence Award in the presence of Commerce Minister Mr. Tipu Munshi at the Radisson hotel in Dhaka 13th March. Additionally, Mr. Robert Chatterton Dickson, British high commissioner, Amanda Murphy, head of commercial banking at HSBC South and Southeast Asia, Mr. Md Mahbub ur Rahman, CEO of HSBC Bangladesh, and Mr. Md Jashim Uddin, president of FBCCI, were also present.

We are very proud to share that Sazedul Islam, an employee of New Asia Group became first in the Marine Drive Ultra-Marathon 2020 held on Friday, 17 January 2020.

Sazedul Islam has been working as a Sr. Executive, IT at JM Fabrics Ltd. He attended this first ever Ultra-Marathon held at coastal city Cox’s Bazar in 50 km category.

Travelers of Bangladesh and Escapade have jointly organized the event in association with the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, Bangladesh Tourism Board and Cox’s Bazar Zila Parishad. It was aimed at raising public awareness about littering and the need for healthy living.

Once a year, if people are fortunate enough, they go to some place they have never been to before. People love to explore but they seldom think about the consequences of their actions - eyes locked to the marvels of the universe they drop that empty bag of chips or the plastic water bottle almost anywhere.

This event means to draw attention to coastal pollution and other forms of behavior in order for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved.

120 selected participants took part in the two-day long event with the slogan ‘Travel Responsibly.’ Marathon runners participated in three different categories: 50 km, 100km and 161km (100miles). Runners set out at 6 am on January 17th from Inani Beach for Teknaf and back.

Volunteers, cyclists, Cox’s Bazaar police, and Tourist police assisted the participants with drinks, snacks and medical assistance whenever necessary.

The event, one of the most challenging marathons, shown how a grassroots level initiative can bring people together for a greater cause.

In September 2019, New Asia Ltd. joined Bangladesh’s first Supplier Diversity Advisory Committee, which was assembled as part of a World Bank Group project to increase connectivity between women-owned businesses and corporate buyers.
