Preggie Pop Tiplet is bumping through her second trimester. She’s working full time at a very busy maternity clinic and looking forward to her last semester of nursing school.
She techs for her obstetrician who just might be my current favorite person. He gives very few f***s, if any, unless it has to do with delivering one of his patients. To this end, he often invites Velvet to join him in the OR, or “cut a baby’s p***s off”.
Yesterday he sauntered in after a delivery and said “Hey! Velvet. I have a question for you.”
“I hope I have an answer,” Velvet quipped.
“There are five black roosters strutting around the barnyard. How many feet do they have?”
“Ten,” Velvet answered, relieved.
“How many beaks?”
“Five?”
“Ok, how many wings?”
She narrowed her eyes. “Ten.”
He continues. “Okay. A white cat strolls through the pasture and jumps up on a fence. How many feet does it have?”
“Four?” She’s confused. Math is hard.
“And how many teeth does the cat have?” he presses, more pregnant than my spawn with gleeful anticipation.
She considers this. “I don’t know, let me google it.”
It’s here. The Moment He’s Been Waiting For.
“YOU MEAN TO TELL ME YOU KNOW MORE ABOUT BLACK C**K THAN WHITE PUSSY??”
My daughter looks up from her phone. Her mouth drops open. She flushes beet red. Covers her face and whispers, “I cannot believe you’re going to be pulling a human out of my va**na in a few months.”
The doc guffaws. “BLACK C**K!! Anyway, what am I supposed to be doing again?”
“If you’re done traumatizing your techs, there is a patient in 2.”
“Let’s do this,” he declares.
Let’s, indeed.
