হালাল ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্যের ব্যাপারে মহান আল্লাহ বলেন, أَحَلَّ اللهُ الْبَيْعَ وَحَرَّمَ الرِّبَا ‘আল্লাহ ব্যবসাকে হালাল এবং সূদকে হারাম করেছেন’ (বাক্বারাহ ২/২৭৫)। অন্যত্র এরশাদ হচ্ছে, يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ آمَنُواْ لاَ تَأْكُلُواْ أَمْوَالَكُمْ بَيْنَكُمْ بِالْبَاطِلِ إِلاَّ أَن تَكُوْنَ تِجَارَةً عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِّنْكُمْ ‘হে ঈমানদারগণ! তোমরা একে অপরের সম্পদ অন্যায়ভাবে গ্রাস করো না, কেবলমাত্র তোমাদের পরস্পরের সম্মতিক্রমে যে ব্যবসা করা হয় তা বৈধ’ (নিসা ৪/২৯)।
