A subtle detail on this fall 2000 A.F. Vandevorst top are these curved insets on the sleeves. An and Filip are most known for their triagnular shoulder details, inspired by half-lined blazer, so this curve pattern is an outlier. Or is it?

For fall 2000 A.F. Vandevorst designed an equestrian themed collection, a theme that would flow throughout their whole oeuvre. One of the more notable pieces of that season were jackets patterned after horse saddles, including the three-dimensional saddle back. This exact pattern was flattened and used on other garments such as the maxi length leather dress of the first image, and the black top we just posted online.

So while in the front, this top might seem simple, the back seams tell a story of references to those who are willing to listen.

A rare menswear item (or womenswear but just more oversized) by Ann Demeulemeester with a beautiful open crochet hand-knitted in Macedonia as a part of an initiative training women in different hand-knitting techniques whilst supporting their families and providing education. Dubbed Rosen, the sweater is in a pale pink while all edges feature a dark red irregular ombre, making it seem the color bled into the jumper and crawled its way up to the threads. Dated circa 2018 and now available online

Another staple we keep coming back to are the now iconic Maison Martin Margiela fall 2008 boots with large upside down nails as heels. Why we say 'now'? As the Flemish saying goes: unknown is unloved.

The nail heel was barely visible, if visible at all, on runway pictures. So unless you know what you were looking for, these looked like standard ankle boots. Last year these Margiela nail heel booties started making the rounds on instagram, suddenly catapulting them to fame, which also meant: suddenly harder to find. But lucky us and you, as we have a new and nearly new pair in stock. Available for sale and also added to the archive

The jabot is a neckscarf-type of garment, reinvented by Martin Margiela into an elliptical wrap with ties. Which could be worn as choker, bandeau or bracelet.

Margiela used thenjabot throughout almost every season, not always shown on the runway. Materials he used came from current collections but also surplus fabric from previous ones. By repurposing fabric, Martin treated this according to his artisanal principles.

Now online is a spring 2006 Margiela dark navy jabot with beige optical illusion circles, in the same fabric as one of the runway dresses. Funnily enough attached to the fabric roll, which makes us wonder if Martin Margiela just snipped these jabots from that exact fabric role.
