Tjep. 25 years! Retrospective
full press release https://designspotter.com/newswire/tjep-25-years-retrospective-2-3/

To mark 25 years of the studio, we are looking back with 3 retrospectives: Architecture & Sculptures — July, Objects & Products — (click on link to external file), Jewellery — October.

Frank Tjepkema pairs artistic invention with design that works in the real world, across a range of disciplines. He is owner and creative director of design studio Tjep., and creative director of contemporary jewellery brand OYUKIO.

Founded in 2001 by Frank Tjepkema, Tjep. is an Amsterdam-based design studio working across jewellery, products, furniture, interiors, public spaces and architecture. It pairs bold artistic vision with sharp commercial instinct, moving between acclaimed commissions — from Schiphol to the entrance gate of Paleis Het Loo — and provocative gallery pieces such as the Recession Chair, Bling Bling and Oogst that challenge conventions and reflect the spirit of the times, often with a touch of irony but always crafted with passion. Tjep.’s work is held in collections including the Centre Pompidou, the Stedelijk Museum and Cooper Hewitt.

Artist Statement
For more than forty years, paper has been the foundation of Jae Ko’s artistic practice. Her work is rooted in the material itself its inherent qualities, diverse forms, and remarkable capacity to express the complexity and beauty of the natural world.

Ko’s practice draws upon topographic, geological, architectural, and Constructivist influences. She explores the intrinsic relationships between rock cores, landscapes, and architecture, where form and function are inseparable. Early twentieth-century Constructivism has been a significant influence, particularly its investigation of objects created through the juxtaposition of volumes and spatial relationships.....

22MUSE Antwerp presents JAE KO – Striated

Once in a lifetime: Jae Ko's debut solo exhibition in Belgium at gallery 22MUSE Antwerp. Opening: Thursday 22.10.26 Exhibition: 23.10 - 28.11.2026

Jae Ko transforms ordinary paper into monumental sculptural landscapes through an intensive process of rolling, compressing, layering, and shaping. In Forces of Nature (pictured), countless tightly wound layers create flowing, organic forms that evoke forests, moss, waterways, and natural topographies. The monochromatic green palette enhances these associations while drawing attention to the work’s rich texture, movement, and craftsmanship. Rhythmic circular openings introduce depth and shadow, allowing the installation to shift with changing light. Blurring the boundaries between painting, relief, and sculpture, Ko pushes paper far beyond its conventional use, revealing its expressive and structural potential. The work reflects her ongoing exploration of material, process, and time, transforming an everyday medium into a meditative yet dynamic environment that invites slow contemplation and rewards close observation with an ever-changing interplay of texture, light, and abstraction.
