The idea emerged from a moment in the shop that stayed with Sofie. A Free Palestine poster was removed from her shop. What followed was a sense of unease and a confrontation with the question of what happens when something you stand for suddenly no longer seems self-evident. The incident lingered. When Sofie came into contact with red leather later that same week, the idea took shape to translate that feeling not into words, but into material and design.

A new concept is born: The Slow Exchange. First stop: my flagship store in Antwerp. 🔥

From 17–19 April, we bring together a curated selection of designers who share a passion for timeless design, conscious fashion, and refined craftsmanship. Discover the worlds of SofieDarche., .berckmans , and .official. Each distinct, yet beautifully connected through a shared commitment to quality and sustainability.

Join us this April for a special Spring Edition of The Slow Exchange at our flagship store in the Kloosterstraat 23.

We open the weekend on Friday 17 April with a Late Night Shopping evening from 16:00–21:00.

Meet the designers, explore the collections, and enjoy a drink in an intimate setting and good vibes.

Alongside fashion and leather goods, documentary photographer Sarah Van Wingerden will present a selection of her latest project ‘Bij ons langs de rivier’, adding an artistic layer to the experience.

More than just an event, The Slow Exchange is a meeting of minds — a celebration of conscious creation, community, and collaboration.

Liefde. 🌷

Voor jezelf, ook op de dagen dat het minder vlot gaat.
Voor de mensen die je vasthouden.
Voor wat je maakt, met je handen, je tijd en je fouten.
Voor de kleine dingen die groots blijken te zijn.

LIEFDE. staat op mijn huid,
en zit in alles wat hier ontstaat,
in het atelier, in Antwerpen of ver daarbuiten, samen met de mensen die ik het liefste heb of heerlijk met mezelf.
Elke dag, in elke steek, elke imperfectie.

This bag tells a personal story.

It all started with requests from different customers. They were looking for a larger bag—soft, supple leather, no reinforcement—something practical for daily or work use. Eventually, I designed exactly that, without losing my identity as a designer.

The name “Oliena”❤️

While hiking in Sardinia last summer, the last village I visited completely captivated me. It was called Oliena. The name stuck with me—it felt like the perfect name for this new model. I didn’t choose Italy on a whom btw! 🫶
