Us Army Air Forces Usaaf Flight Flying Parka Jacket Coat Type B-7!

rare WWII USAF Arctic Leather and Fur Jacket or Parka Type B-7 in Size 42 Regular manufactured by the Aero Leather Clothing Company of Beacon New York.

The Type B-7 Arctic Parka was originally designed for flight crews and ground personnel based in extreme cold and remote locations during World War II. The B-7 Flight jacket is a mid-thigh length jacket that features a hood lined with Wolf or Reindeer fur and a drawstring on the hood for protection against the bitter winds and blowing snowstorms. There are two deep open-top front map/cargo pockets which are perfect for keeping gloves handy, and two additional front zippered pockets with leather reinforcements at key stress points. There are toggle buttons alongside the covered zipper, storm cuffs, leather rank tabs at the shoulder. Type B-7, Spec. No 3120 was adopted on 12 June 1941. It was designed as a cold weather flight jacket. The jacket is not coated on the surface, so as to prevent dryness and cracking caused by freezing at the poles. The front can be opened and closed by buttons and loops and the outside is equipped with a zipper.

Le décret initial définissait cela comme une récompense de bravoure pour des actes de courage visant à sauver des vies ou à prévenir la perte d’un navire, et pouvait être décerné aux marins de la marine, de la marine marchande ou de la flotte de pêche.
