We work with committed suppliers, such as B Corp certified Poveda Textil, to source materials that combine lower impact, quality, comfort and technical performance.

Our components are 100% vegan and carefully selected: recycled mesh, AppleSkin, insoles integrating cork, laces made from recycled plastic bottles, and materials designed for everyday movement.

When a better alternative exists, we test it.
When it meets our standards for comfort, durability and quality, we use it.

Because a more responsible sneaker only makes sense if you actually want to wear it for a long time.

CHAPTER 1 - HOW OUR SNEAKERS ARE MADE? 🇵🇹

Transparency has always been part of BALAO.

Two weeks ago, we travelled to Portugal, near Guimarães, to meet our suppliers and manufacturer and take you behind the scenes of our production.

Over those few days, we followed every step of the process : from 3D design and cutting to stitching, assembly and final quality control.

From carefully selected materials to soles made from recycled sports waste, every detail matters.

But beyond the product, this trip was also about the people, the know-how and the passion behind BALAO.
