Soft Triangles is a sensory installation for children composed of modular soft sculptures based on triangular geometry. Designed to be touched, explored, and reconfigured, the modules feature different closing systems that encourage interaction, play, and discovery.
Originally developed for Haren Prison, the project emerged as a lightweight, non-invasive way to temporarily transform a highly controlled environment. Through soft, movable forms, it creates opportunities for connection, imagination, and shared experiences between children and their parents during visits.
Made entirely from second-hand fabrics and recycled cushion filling, the installation combines sustainability with a tactile experience of color, texture, and softness.
As part of the project, children and their parents were invited to co-create visual stories. These narratives were translated into embroidered elements integrated into the installation, bringing personal memories and traces into the work.
Soft Triangles explores how design can reshape the emotional atmosphere of a space, making room for play, movement, care, and connection where these experiences are often limited.
Developed within the framework of Relais Enfant Parent and De Rode Antraciet, with the support of Lasso vzw/asbl and AlcARte.
