“One final mix”
Sounds simple
A production might start out for broadcast, later move to streaming, get a cinema screening and eventually end up as clips online.
Same images, but very different ways of listening.
Stereo, 5.1, Atmos… each with its own technical requirements, loudness specs and approach to dynamics.
So one of the questions worth asking before the mix even starts is:
Where will this actually end up?
Knowing that early helps our sound team make the right choices from the start, both creatively and technically. Because sound post isn’t only about making a mix sound good in the studio. It also has to work wherever people eventually hear it. 🤟🏼
