Recently in our sound studios: Coyote VS Acme, for its 5.1 theatrical sound mix.

One of the things we enjoy about mixing for cinema is how much you can do with sound to bring a scene to life. It’s not just about making things sound bigger. It’s about keeping dialogue natural and clear, building the atmosphere of a location, and deciding how music and sound effects should fill the space around the audience.

With speakers all around the cinema, there are plenty of creative possibilities.

Coyote hits Kinepolis cinemas today! A great opportunity to experience the film and its soundtrack on the big screen.

YUGLY, the animated feature distributed by , has an impressive Flemish voice cast.

Thomas Van Caeneghem voices Yugly, alongside An Lemmens, Sven De Ridder, Lee Arrendell, Jelle De Beule, Pol Goossen and Mathias Mesmans.

The Flemish dubbing was directed by Karina Mertens, with Jonas on translation, Wouter on the 5.1 cinema mix and Kristof handling deliveries.

Animated comedy is always an interesting dubbing challenge. The dialogue needs to follow the animation, but the humour also needs to feel natural in Flemish. Sometimes a tiny change in timing makes all the difference.

We’ve been following Omerta, the new fiction series from Dingie for Streamz & CANAL+, since the shooting days!

Picture and sound rushes were synced daily, with dailies made available through Frame.io.
The workflow then continues through online conform, VFX turnovers, intermediate screenings and final mastering.

There’s quite a bit of coordination involved in getting a series from set to screen. It’s been interesting seeing the production take shape throughout the different stages of post.

Sneak peek into Rudi Vitesse, the upcoming fiction series from FBO Productions, directed by Robin Pront (Zillion, D’Ardennen) and co-written with Kevin Meul.

The series follows Rudi, a former rally champion whose career went off the rails. Now living with his mother and working as a driving instructor, he decides to make a comeback after a humiliating encounter with his former mentor.

Incoming on our side: conform, grading preparation, dialogue editing, sound design, Foley, ADR and 5.1 mixing, alongside subtitling and final deliveries.

The series also calls for an international sound version. An interesting part of the process, as removing production dialogue often means losing other sounds recorded on set too.

That’s where Foley and sound effects editing come in, helping preserve all those little details that make a scene feel real, no matter which language is spoken.

AI in sound post is getting seriously good!

Noise reduction. Dialogue cleanup. Transcription. Voice/background separation.
Work that used to take hours can now happen surprisingly fast.

But cleaner sound isn’t always better sound.

Push noise reduction too far and voices start sounding unnatural.
Clean a location recording too aggressively and you lose the room with it.

That’s where AI works best right now:
Let AI handle the repetitive work.
Let experienced ears decide when to stop.

“One final mix”
Sounds simple

A production might start out for broadcast, later move to streaming, get a cinema screening and eventually end up as clips online.

Same images, but very different ways of listening.
Stereo, 5.1, Atmos… each with its own technical requirements, loudness specs and approach to dynamics.

So one of the questions worth asking before the mix even starts is:
Where will this actually end up?

Knowing that early helps our sound team make the right choices from the start, both creatively and technically. Because sound post isn’t only about making a mix sound good in the studio. It also has to work wherever people eventually hear it. 🤟🏼
