Custom fingerless gloves 🧤

My client loved the idea of a pair I already own, but needed them bigger and more her style — so I made a custom set using an old cardigan that was giving me absolutely no joy and never got worn.

This was a proper “measure, test, make it up as I go” project: sleeves off, sizing adjusted, then the fiddliest part — the thumb hole. Lots of tiny stitching to stabilise the knit so it doesn’t roll, stretch, or tear, then shaping and finishing so the seams sit flat and feel comfy on skin.

One-of-one, warm, practical, and made to fit.

School Save ✅

Uniforms take a beating, so this reel is a two-part rescue:

1) Letting out the side seams on a uniform piece to add real, usable room (then pressing it flat so it looks clean and intentional) + hand-sewing a button back on.

2) Fixing PE shorts that split at the crotch seam by reinforcing the area, stitching it down securely, and overlocking for strength and a tidy finish.

End result: comfy, wearable school kit again — and no need to buy a brand new set just because of a split seam or a growth spurt.

Sewing lessons, but make it actually fun. 🧵

Watching this confidence click is my favourite part: the machine goes from chaos mode (chewing fabric, bird’s nests, trying to eat the work) to smooth stitching — and you can literally see the joy land.

And then the payoff: she’s wearing the skirt she made by upcycling a dress into a two-piece, and holding the matching top she cut and hemmed herself. This is how I love teaching — not random aprons, but projects you actually want to wear, using the wardrobe you’re already in, with guidance that makes it feel doable.

Market drop incoming. 👀💜

These are sensory-friendly, breathable thin cotton V-neck tees, built for people who want comfort without giving up colour. I started by “auditioning” the cut pieces to make sure the bright, bold vibe in my head actually worked in real life… and yep, it’s giving "Freckles" energy in the best way.

They’re a closer fit on purpose (perfect as a soft base layer), with extra length in the sleeves and body so they don’t ride up. Finished with overlocked seams, a self-bound neckline, and flat coverlock-style edging so everything sits smooth inside — no scratchy stitching, no tickly neck, no annoying folds.

These will be hitting market stalls soon and I can’t wait to see them out in the wild.

Making it up as I go (works?)

This skirt started as an Avril Lavigne daydream and a scribbly little sketch… then I grabbed an old curtain from my “test draft” stash and let the idea turn into something real. Cue: a truly unhinged amount of measuring, cutting, pleat-folding, sewing, and pressing until suddenly—boom—the vibe is vibing.

This is the toile (test run), and now that we’ve done a fitting I’m so excited to remake it in upcycled denim for my client. There is nothing better than watching an idea leave your brain and become a wearable thing.

Sentimental piece, upgraded. 💜

This top is well loved, good quality, and it was bought for her by her mum — so it’s absolutely worth saving. It had two small holes in the back, so I repaired them with a patch + machine-stitch method that rebuilds strength and conceals the damage from the outside.

Then we fixed the fit: her body has changed, the top was sitting too short, and the sleeves have always been too short. I added ribbing to lengthen the body and sleeves and made it a feature, not a “hide it” fix. Ribbing is a stretchy, moody little bastard, so there’s a lot of careful measuring, pinning, and checking the circumference to make sure it sits smooth and intentional.

Now it’s the same top with the same memories — just more comfortable, more wearable, and ready for a whole new chapter.

Tiny holes, slow stitches, and a little contemplation.

I’ve been repairing two woolly stretch garments — one hand-sewn because the spot’s awkward, one machine-sewn because it’s easier to reach. Neither repair is invisible… and honestly? I like it that way.

It’s proof of care. Proof of effort. Proof that something can be well-loved, show a bit of wear, and still be worth keeping.

And it’s a parallel I keep coming back to: when you’re moving through something emotional, the kindest thing can be a small, practical, grounding task that keeps you present.

For me, that’s sewing. It lets me process while my hands stay busy.

Trip hazard to queen energy. 👑

These wide-leg jeans were gorgeous, but before the hem they were honestly overwhelming on her frame and a full-on trip risk. So this reel shows what hemming actually involves: consult + pinning, lining both legs up, equalising, measuring, marking, re-checking, then cutting, pressing, building the hem properly, stitching cleanly, and finishing it so it sits flat and wears well.

It’s not “just one seam” — it’s precision and skill so your jeans don’t twist, drag, fray, or end up uneven. And the payoff is right there in the final clips: she can move, twirl, and feel amazing in jeans that fit like a dream.

Upcycled and original. 💜

This reel is the final stage of this long sleeve top — attaching the sleeve — and you can see the inside finish as I go. I bound the seams with homemade bias tape made from scrap fabric that’s a super close colour match, because I love when the inside is as considered as the outside.

This piece started as a fun, uncommissioned make (I’m building market stock), inspired by a client with seriously effervescent energy… and it turns out it DID call to him. Now it’s a one-of-one, reclaimed-fabric top that’s pure joy to see him wearing and grooving around in.
