Some creations carry a story far beyond the object itself.
This custom set of Damascus table knives was created for Jorien and Evert, two doctors from Kortrijk. Since both work as doctors and surgeons, they are not allowed to wear jewelry. Instead of traditional wedding jewelry, they chose something they could use and cherish every day: a handcrafted knife set with both their names forged into the Damascus steel.
The handles were made from a root piece of cork oak lying in front of Mircae ’s studio (near Lissabon - Portugal). A material full of texture, history, and character.
It was a true honor to create these pieces for such a meaningful occasion. Even more special: the knives were immediately used during their wedding dinner at .be in Kortrijk.
Stories like these are exactly why I love making knives.
