Last week, while we were feeding the shelter dogs, we heard a sound that broke our hearts.
It was a painful cry coming from the nearby woods. We didn’t know what we would find, but we knew we couldn’t ignore it.
We followed that cry… until we came across a scene we will never forget:
A mama dog, skin and bones, exhausted, full of wounds, yet standing firm, protecting her puppies.
She cried out in pain, in hunger, in despair — but above all, in love.
Her babies, so small and fragile, were also covered in maggots, malnourished and apathetic.
Even on the verge of collapse, she never gave up on them.
She taught us what it truly means to be strong.
And we heard her call for help.
Today, they are all safe with us.
But the reality is tough: there are many mouths to feed, medications to buy, and daily care to provide.
We’ve already accumulated over $5,000 in vet bills and treatments, and we still have a long road ahead before they are truly safe and healthy.
