GEM - Belize Break barriers, shatter stereotypes, and unleash your potential with us! I believe in order to see a change I have to become a part of that change.

Being born and raised in the beautiful village of Ladyville, it’s hard to watch friends and neighbors heading down a winding path. The camp piloted as a summer camp with hope that it can blossom into an ongoing club for young girls in the community. A place they can grow and learn how to lead and be a positive example in Belize.

For the past nine years, GEM (Girls Empowered & Motivated) has been a space where young girls could grow, shine, and discover just how powerful they truly are. 💛
GEM has been at a pause, including our usual summer program. Many of you look forward to this time with us, and I do sincerely apologize for any disappointment.
However, the spirit of GEM is far from dimmed. Our GEM GoalGetters Football Club will be kicking off recruitment soon and will be welcoming young girls who are ready to step onto the field, build confidence, and be part of something strong and uplifting.
We are deeply grateful for every parent, supporter, and girl who has been part of this journey over the years. Your belief has carried GEM this far, and I hope to come back stronger in the future. Stay connected for updates, and thank you for continuing to support.

Public Message to Parents: ‼️‼️
Kids and Teens experience stress and depression too!

As parents, it’s easy to believe that children and teens “have nothing to stress about” because they don’t carry the same adult responsibilities like pay bills, have a job or running a household. But the truth is, young people face very real stress that can deeply affect their mental and emotional well being.

They deal with academic pressure, social challenges, family expectations, changing bodies, friendships, bullying, and the constant influence of social media. The peer
Pressures of this world is very real! The values of this generation has been depleting. Their world is often confusing and overwhelming, and their brains are still learning how to cope with these emotions.

When we tell them their stress isn’t “real” or that they shouldn’t feel the way they do, we unintentionally teach them to bottle up their feelings. You’ve seen heat bottled up causes explosions! They will “crash out”!

Instead, let’s listen. Validate their feelings. Ask questions like, “What’s been on your mind lately?” or “How can I support you?” By showing understanding, we help our kids develop healthy coping skills and strengthen our bond with them.

Remember: Stress is real for every age. What feels small to us can feel enormous to them. By taking their feelings seriously, we raise emotionally stronger, more resilient adults.

Thank you Football Association for recognizing one of our Goalgetters player, Ms Shulian Hazel. She received a trophy for most improved player yesterday. Was a proud moment to have one of my girls being recognized and the team being acknowledged for our improvement on the field. We try our best with the little we have. Baby steps 👣

With that said, look out for our fundraiser soon to help with our team’s expenses. 😘
