Every day is Earth Day at tumtum threads.

Our connection to the earth, and our responsibility to protect it for future generations, comes from teachings and values passed down through time. We carry the responsibility of being stewards of the land, honoring what has always been entrusted to us.

We live this value through tumtum threads by creating products with handmade wool, naturally sourced dyes, and materials chosen with care and intention. Our relationship with the land, sea, and sky runs deep, and it guides every piece we create.

Maya'xa̱la x̱a̱n's awi'nakola — Respect the land, sea, and sky.

We invite you to do your part. Choose thoughtfully. Support practices that honor Earth. Protect what sustains us—today and for the generations yet to come.

‘Na̱mg̱is Artist and tumtum thread’s very own Bruce Alfred with the A̱mlilas Programs unveiled the new designed, carved and painted sign. Bruce is a world-renowned Northwest Coast artist, and for over 50 years he has been contributing to his nation’s community with various pieces and permanent installations for all to view, enjoy, and take pride in.

A̱mlilas Program Centre acquired the new sign and wanted to represent the programs. The sign was unveiled with program participants taking part; from toddlers to the Nation’s T’łisa̱lagi’lakw School student singers and Cultural coordinator, to language immersion Elders, parents, teachers and workers, along with Bruce’s family and Chiefs, in support of this exciting event.

The artwork: lower portion design is representing a bentwood box with; inside it are four children (four being our sacred number), or in kwak’wala: ga̱nga̱nana̱m, our długwe’, as Bruce puts it “Our children, our sacred treasures”. The treasure box design that the four children sit is ‘Namxxiyalegiyu, from the ‘Na̱mg̱is story Halibut-like Sea Monster that protected our ancestor and first ‘Na̱mg̱is man, Namukustolis, saving him during the great flood.

This sign is more than art—it’s a symbol of protection, community, and pride. Thank you to everyone who made this moment possible

We are grateful for the opportunity to attend the 3rd Annual Kwakwa̱ka̱'wakw Fashion Show again this year. It was an inspiring day—watching the show, connecting with so many new people, celebrating the creativity within our nation, and of course sharing the market with all of the amazing artists and vendors. The event was a beautiful expression of culture, art, and fashion, with a powerful reflection of who we are. Hands raised to the hosts, Premium Culture Club, for creating such an uplifting gathering that celebrated and empowered our artists, our people, and our youth.
