Recent boat interior project!

The customer picked the vinyl colors, and we rebuilt the seats from scratch—replaced the rotten wood, sealed the new boards with marine coating, and got everything looking brand new.

Finished up this boat project recently!
The customer picked out the vinyl colors, and once we took everything apart, we found the wood backing was pretty worn out. We replaced all the bad wood and fully sealed the new boards—edges and surfaces—with marine-grade coatings to make sure they hold up to the water for years to come. Then we rebuilt and reupholstered all the seating from scratch.
Night and day difference from where it started.

From Tired to Fresh Again

This time, I stepped away from upholstery and worked on something a little different. I gave these two wooden chairs a fresh new look.

I started by sanding them down to remove the old finish and prepare the wood. Then I went over them with a finer sandpaper to get the surface nice and smooth.

After that came the stain, which brought the natural character of the wood back out. Once the stain was ready, I applied the first coat of varnish. After it dried, I lightly sanded it again with fine sandpaper to smooth everything out, then finished it with another coat of varnish.

It’s a few extra steps, but I really enjoy the process. You can see the chairs slowly changing with every step, and by the end, they have a completely fresh look and feel.

Not every project needs new fabric. Sometimes, the wood just needs a little care and attention to bring it back to life.

This La-Z-Boy recliner came into the shop with old vinyl that was peeling and showing its age. Instead of replacing it, my customer decided to give it a second life with a beautiful floral fabric. 🌸

I removed the old vinyl and reupholstered the recliner with the new floral material. It’s amazing how much personality a new fabric can bring to a piece of furniture!

The chair still has the comfort and structure it always had, but now it has a completely fresh look and a whole new character.

Some days I start working in the morning and don’t realize how late it is until I finally look at the clock.

Upholstery can be tiring. I start working on a piece, and there’s always something else to do cutting, sewing, pulling fabric, fixing things, making adjustments… and sometimes I just keep going because I want to see the project finished.

By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. My hands are tired, my back is tired, and all I want to do is go home.

But then I look at the piece I just finished, and honestly, it makes it worth it.

Knowing that I’m giving a customer their furniture back looking fresh and new, and knowing they’re going to be happy with it, is one of the best parts of what I do.

It’s definitely not always easy, and some days are really long, but I genuinely enjoy this work. I enjoy seeing the transformation from start to finish.

Tired? Absolutely.
Would I rather be doing something else? Not really. 😂
