I was asked to do this Retirement plaque for our milk tester.. I’m sure almost every one of you won’t know what this is.. 😂 Read below for a few dairy farmer fun facts…

Ps. This is a milk testing ladle for taking a sample as a cow is being milked. No, not straight from the cow, from a drain valve at the milker as we use machines to milk the cows, not by hand! 😅 And yes, cows milk is individually tested every few weeks! This practise is used more for a herd management tool and quality control to see what each cow is doing and checking on many things like bacteria counts and milk quality and fat contents per each cow. And YES every single time our milk is picked up (every other day) our milk is sample tested and before that truck is loaded at each farm or dumped at the processing plant it must pass multiple quality control tests. If we accidentally ship milk from a cow who is treated (getting antibiotics) that entire truck load of milk from our farm and others will be dumped and our farm pays for the entire loss of that milk.. So no, farmers do not ship milk with antibiotics in it!!
