They reveal themselves only when you move closer.

Layers of texture, softened patterns, weathered colour, and florals that seem to emerge from beneath the surface—each one intentionally placed, then gently aged to feel as though time had a hand in creating them.

Some stories whisper.

Others command the room.

Crimson Veil was created during a paint challenge that invited artists to develop an entirely new colour. Rather than simply mixing pigments, I wanted to create a colour with its own identity—one that carried the richness of history, mystery, and quiet drama. Even the name became part of that story.

Painted on an early 1900s vanity, Crimson Veil doesn't ask to be noticed...it quietly insists upon it. The depth of colour, the layers, and the atmosphere transform an everyday piece into something that feels timeless.

At Aspects, every creation begins with a question... What if? What if forgotten furniture could reveal another aspect of its story? Not by erasing its past, but by allowing history, imagination, texture, and atmosphere to exist together.

Madame Camille wasn't created simply to furnish a room. She was created to evoke a feeling—a quiet moment where elegance lingers, time softens, and beauty is found in the layers rather than the surface.

Some pieces begin with inspiration.

Others begin with leftover materials and a simple question...

**"What if?"**

This little keepsake box was created using many of the same layered techniques that brought *Antoinette* to life. Mineral Powder and Vintage Powder were worked into the wet paint, allowing the surface to develop a softly aged character that couldn't be achieved with colour alone. Every layer settles differently, leaving behind quiet hints of time and texture.

I imagine this resting on a bedside table, a dressing table, or tucked into a favourite reading corner, keeping handwritten notes, treasured jewelry, old photographs, or the little keepsakes that deserve a beautiful place to call home.

Sometimes the smallest pieces become the keepers of our most cherished stories.

Every custom piece begins the same way.

Not with paint.

Not with brushes.

But with a conversation.

Sometimes it's an heirloom that has been part of a family for generations.

Sometimes it's a forgotten find waiting in a garage, a flea market, or tucked away in an antique shop.

The question is never, *"What colour should it be?"*

The question is...

*"What story is waiting to be uncovered?"*

That is where the real design begins.

Sometimes, before the first decorative detail is added... before the hardware returns... before the florals bloom... there is simply possibility.

Because custom furniture isn't about making something old look new.

It's about creating something that feels as though it has always belonged in your home.

There is something about a basket of roses that suggests they have only just been gathered.

Perhaps that is why this cabinet has always felt less like a piece of furniture and more like a quiet corner waiting for someone to return.

The soft florals across the lower doors seem almost as though they have drifted from the basket itself, while the aged finishes and gentle layers remind us that beauty rarely arrives all at once.

I have always believed that a cabinet like this belongs wherever it is loved.

Fill it with treasured china, stacks of favourite books, crystal collected over the years, or the little objects that tell the story of your home.

Sometimes the most beautiful collections are not hidden behind closed doors.

They are simply waiting to be shared.

At first glance, Midnight Bloom keeps her secrets well.

Deep romantic noir tones, gilded details, graceful cabriole legs... she carries herself with quiet confidence.

But then...

You open a drawer.

Instead of more darkness, you're greeted by an unexpected garden of florals, hidden where only the owner would discover it.

I've always loved creating little surprises like this.

Not every beautiful detail needs to be seen immediately. Sometimes the most memorable moments are the ones reserved for the person curious enough to look a little closer.

Sometimes I wonder what first stopped someone long enough to notice Aspects.

Was it a layer of torn wallpaper?

A brushstroke of gold?

The texture of aged paint?

Or simply the feeling that there was more to discover?

Over the years I've realized that many of you aren't just looking at the finished piece.

You're looking *through* it.

You're quietly wondering what lies beneath the layers, how one colour found another, or why a single detail changes the entire mood.

Truthfully...

Those are the very same questions I ask myself while creating.

Perhaps that's why we keep meeting here.

Not because we're searching for another technique, but because we're all a little curious about what the next layer might reveal.

Antoinette has always reminded me that every layer tells another paragraph of the story... and sometimes the most beautiful discoveries are the ones hidden just beneath the surface.

There was a time when a dresser like this would have stood proudly in the finest bedroom of the house.

Why should it stay there?

Imagine it greeting guests in an entrance hall, anchoring a dining room with treasured china, or becoming a statement piece in a living room where its history can be admired every day.

The beauty of antique-inspired furniture isn't in recreating the past exactly as it was.

It's in allowing those stories to continue in the way we live now.

Rosalind's Reflection was created with that thought in mind—a piece that honours yesterday while feeling perfectly at home in today's world.

Perhaps the best room for a beautiful piece isn't the one it was designed for...
