This week we are bringing attention to our rapidly receding glaciers as we lead to International Glacier Day on Saturday, March 21st.

During our Run for Winter event we had .martel come speak to us to give us some insight into what is happening in the mountains and ecosystems around us.

If you live in the Bow Valley you can attend .institute World Day for Glaciers at Elevation Place, where they will be providing more education and awareness on this day.

This week we had the privilege of hosting Run for Winter.

This was an opportunity to get together and run in a place we love while bringing awareness to our rapidly receding glaciers!!

Calling Bow Valley Runners!! Come out in support of

Join us for a RUN FOR WINTER - 5 km Fun Run in Banff along the scenic Bow River starting from our Smartwool Banff store on Banff Avenue.

This is an opportunity to get together and run in a place we love bringing awareness to our rapidly receding glaciers!!

WHAT: 5 km Fun Run along the Bow River in Banff followed by snacks provided by Smartwool Banff, Alcoholic and Non Alcoholic Beverages provided by WildLife Distillery, POW Ambassador sharing what is happening to our local glaciers, and great PRIZING from our main sponsor The North Face and smaller giveaways by Smartwool.

WHEN: Wednesday, March 18th

Bow Valley Friends - Community Event Alert!!

Join us for a fun night hike or run up Tunnel Mountain then returning to our store on Banff Ave for some hot beverages and a treat while we hear a local Protect Our Winters Canada ambassador give you a quick snippet of information on our local initiatives in regards to climate change.
We will have a few giveaways and a couple sweet winter pieces that we will be raffling off. Thank you to Smartwool Banff, Helly Hansen, and Salomon for their donations!!

We are excited to host legendary ski mountaineer, Christina Lustenberger as she gives us insight into Sherpa Cinema’s latest film, Robson.
This film follows Christina and her expedition partner, Gee Pierrel as they take on the South Face of Mount Robson. Skillfully climbing the mountain, then skiing down it.

For a decade Christina has assessed the Great Couloir of the South Face to see if this was obtainable.

On February 13th they made their first attempt which required them missing the summit by only a few hundred meters, they came down and reassessed for a couple days. With some help from the weather, February 16th they went back after it and put their names on the summit of the South Face of Mount Robson.

Come and join us Tuesday, November 4th from 5 pm - 7 pm as we listen to Christina detail the event and answer any questions.
