So two things. Bridles are quite hard to take good pictures of without being on a horse's head. And secondly, I really struggle with posting things that are not "perfect" (and this bridle certainly is not). The thread I chose was not great quality, and gave me a fair bit of grief with wonky stitches. But what this bridle is is a product of pushing my skills, learning new techniques, and making a few mistakes along the way. The next one will be tenfold better 🙌.

Yesterday was the final day of the Bridle Making Course. I've mostly completed my bridle with some final stitching to do at home. I learned so much and had a really wonderful time. The North American Saddlery School is absolutely excellent and I hope to be back again one day for more education.

The monocrown padded headpiece. Before assembly, creating a decorative stitch pattern to hold the cheek piece straps in place, and after stitching. I decided to live on the edge and use white stitching. The stitches are tiny, 10 stitches to the inch, all saddlestitched by hand with 2 needles and an awl.

Day 2 of the North American Saddlery School Bridle Course. I had to laugh when I looked at the pictures I took of my bench first thing in the morning and last thing before leaving for the day. It looks like I accomplished hardly anything despite 8 hrs of work! Despite how it looks, a lot of work has gone into those bridle pieces and I should be starting to stitch tomorrow. Today was spent creasing and edging, recutting a headpiece after messing up the throat latch strap width on the first, preparing the browband to be filled, raised, and padded, learning how to properly pad a bridle, tool talk, and oh so much more. It's been a wonderful experience so far filled with knowledgeable and fantastic instructors, the nicest group of fellow students, and lots of horse talk. Can't wait for tomorrow 😄
