The idea of opening an online pre-loved children's clothing store started out as a thought bubble. It kind of pooped into my bra
in, was mildy processed, and then filed away in the "maybe someday" folder. Every once in a while, that folder would send messages to my brain inbox remidning me that it was still sitting there. It wasn't until life took a funny turn that I ever really paid attention to those reminders. I decided to take a chance, a risk if you will (that word risk is oh so new to me), and do something that I am passionate about, I believe there is a market for, and will allow me to work from home so that I can watch my youngest tear apart my home room by room...
At the root of Refresh is a basic prinicpal: reuse pre-loved clothing and gear therefore reducing the environmental impact that unnecessary purchasing and discarding items creates; all while making and/or saving money. Selling:
We are basically an online consignment shop. You bring us your excellent used condition clothing and gear, and we take care of the rest! We sort through the items, keeping what qualifies for sale, prepare the items for photgraphing, photograph items in an appealing way, post items and manage your sales. The bonus to bringing your items to an online store is that you will not have to forfeit some of your profits to cover traditional store costs (such as rent and hydro). Typically the consignor/seller split is 60/40, but because we do not have to factor rental costs into our pricing, Refresh's split is 50/50! At the end of your contract, you come to collect your profits and may choose to either take anything that may not have sold, or choose to donate the items to a local charity. Buying:
We are like any other online store. You click on the items you would like to purchase, add them to your shopping bag, and pay for your items electronically at checkout. Once you have paid for your items, you will receive an email confirming your order and your earliest pick up or drop off date. If you do not live locally in Bowmanville and would like your products shipped, please send us an email with the items you are interested in buying, and we will send you a shipping quote.
