Turtle Pyrography

Turtle Pyrography Pyrography & Mixed Media art pieces, for sale & commission by Artist Rose Lodge-Markell About the Artist. I am a 61 year old Domestic Engineer. About Pyrography.

Mother of four, grandmother of too-many-to-count. I took up Pyrography May of 2019 as a time killer during a visit to my sister, who is also an accomplished artist. I have dabbled in many artforms in my time. Pyrography is my current love and obsession. With my art, I hope to make people happy by capturing their hearts and imaginations, and occasionally, a picture of a loved one, be they two or fo

ur legged. Pyrography is the art of burning images onto wood, paper & leather, using a specialized handheld burning device. Not to be confused with laser burning images, which are done with the assistance of a computer, and all at one temperature. Pyrography when done by an artist with a hand held device, the temperatures vary depending on the tone of burn needed, and and the medium upon which you're working. How did you get into wood burning? I was introduced to the art by my sister, a fellow artist. For something to do while I was on vacation. Then I was hooked. My Other Artistic Endeavours

In the past I have done three dimensional glass etching with a Dremel. I've done three dimensional wood carvings. I knit, crochet, macramé. I dabble at painting. The colours you see in the art listed on this page are done with Prisma Artistic Pencils. I am in the process of learning to work with resin. Resined pieces are not yet available for sale, until I have perfected the craft. What things can cause a piece to be more expensive? Pricing begins per square inch, after that, things that can effect the price are level of detail, whether you provide the surface (wood/paper/leather) to be worked, and whether the piece includes resin. Resin, while adding to the longevity of any given piece, is also an expensive medium to work with. Shipping costs are also a consideration. **See "Delivery Options" for details.

**Paper pyrography requires specialized paper and are priced without a frame. Framing will be an additional cost, if requested. How to Care for Your Pyrography Mixed Media Art Piece:

Keep out of direct sun and fluorescent light, as this will cause accelerated fading of your image. All pyrograph will fade over time. While the resin I use does have a mild UV protectant in it, images WILL still fade. This is an inevitability of all natural art. Please be sure to have an idea of whether the piece you're buying or commissioning is meant for decoration, daily use, indoor, outdoor, or foods. As the chemicals or colourants used during the creation can limit those uses. Payment Options:

I can accept e-transfers, credit and debit cards (in person) via The Square. Cash is a last resort during COVID conditions. Cheques NOT accepted. Delivery Options:

If you are unable to pick up your art piece from my studio in St George/Brant Ontario, delivery may be an option, depending on your location, at extra cost. Delivery via UPS or Canada Post can be arranged, at extra cost.
