Hands free does not mean care free. However well carrier may be designed and however well it is used, children must be monitored in carriers at all times. Things can change quickly (eg baby falls asleep, the temperature changes, etc).

Opting for a buckle-free baby carrier translates to greater comfort. And more comfort means more bonding time. Therefore, comfort is everything!

Do you take the time to shape your ring sling pouch before you put your baby in? It’s really helpful to do - creating a J shaped pocket for them to be supported in while you tighten the fabric around them. You can adjust the fabric by moving it through the rings. See stories for a little more (part of a tutorial being made).

Building secure attachments isn’t about ticking a checklist of things that must be done (eg how a baby is fed, where they sleep, however you gave birth or even if you gave birth, your gender, your family set up, whether you use a buggy or a carrier or both etc.)

Here are some tips for beating the heat as much as possible:
💧hydrate! Both you and baby
⛱️ shade is your friend. Whether it be a hat, umbrella, tree, whatever
🌱 reach for natural fibres (like linen) in your carrier and your clothes as much as possible. They’re known for being breathable allowing any breeze through and keep your sweat from being unbearable
⏳take breaks. Especially if you’re really on the move.

The Journal of the National Cancer Institute published a study that cannot be ignored. They found that black women who breastfeed have a lower incidence of (ER)-negative and triple-negative breast cancer. The kind of cancer that is difficult to treat and that black women are susceptible to.
