October is Eye Injury Prevention Month!
At A to Z, your vision is our priority. Here are a few simple but actionable habits to build to keep away from eye injuries 🤩
Our hands are the most common carriers of bacteria and unwanted microorganisms! Be sure to practice proper hand hygiene when touching your face, applying contact lenses, and instilling eye medications.
Sunglasses aren’t only a fashion statement! UV sunglasses especially help block harmful UV rays which are linked to eye conditions (like cataracts) after prolonged exposure. Make sure you have your sunnies packed and ready especially on very bright days! 😎
Contact lens cases, eye make-up, solutions, and drops, you name it! All of these could be possible breeding grounds for unwanted microorganisms. Be diligent with following use instructions, checking expiry dates, and tossing them out when it’s time.
Did you know that staring at screens reduces our blinking? That’s how our eyes get dry with extended screen use! Mindfulness is key, so make sure you take breaks from your computer, television, and phone screens as often as you can.
Rubbing is not only a mode for germ transport, it also worsens irritation and allergies! And most importantly, it can cause corneal scratching or abrasion. So please trust when we say, just don’t rub your eyes 🥶
Wearing the right prescription, with the right fit, for the right task ensures that eyes are the most comfortable and efficient as you take on your daily activities.
Our eyes are truly our windows to the world. What’s a few habits to pick up to help keep our precious pair healthy and injury-free?
