I am a longarm quilter in Calgary Alberta. I quilt for myself and for others. I have a lot of fun. My quilting is all hand-guided.

Quilting for others lets me play with fabrics and patterns I wouldn't have a chance to make for myself.

I set aside January to do some of my own quilting. And I’m so excited about this one, which is just minutes off the long arm. Often when I piece a quilt it’s just so I can quilt it. I don’t think I’ve ever ditched just about every piece in a quilt before but this one wanted that. I’m thrilled with how it’s turned out.

Todays finish is this nice little wool pillow. The green background is from a dress my Mom had made, likely when she was in her teens or early twenties, circa 1960s. I did all the appliqué stitching on my longarm. The zipper on the pillow back is the original zipper from the dress. She was tiny. I had to add to the width of the bodice to get it 16” wide.

So much texture in this quilt I made in last years quilt along. It had to ‘age’ before it got quilted. Pattern Pluses by Zen Chic. Fabric is also Zen Chic. The pluses are ruler work in the quilting and the rest is freehand doodling.

This is with its owner now so I can show it. I had teased with some of the piecing in October. Jess had picked these reproduction fabrics which aren’t my normal wheelhouse. There were so many neutrals it was hard to distribute them evenly, so my friend said why not lean into them and so the two “blossoms” became a design feature. A chocolate minke backing was the perfect addition to this cuddly quilt. Thanks for another great pattern. I squared the edges, but thanks to Journey to Nebula and Julie’s great rulers I knew how to do that. fabric was bought at

A tree skirt I made this year upon request. I was pleased with my y-seams but I’d do the binding differently if I were to make it again. A tutorial/pattern I found on Simply quilted with a ribbon meander.
