Meet Terlingua, a daughter of the legendary Secretariat who made her father proud in her own right, and honestly, that's no small task given whose shadow she had to run in. She racked up decisive wins in the Nursery Stakes and the Hollywood Lassie Stakes, and then went ahead and beat the boys outright in the Hollywood Juvenile Championship Stakes. Not bad for a filly going up against colts. She kept right on racing, and winning, all the way until she was 4 years old.

But here's the real plot twist. Her biggest fame didn't come from her own racing career at all. It came later, at stud, when she became the dam of the super-sire Storm Cat, a name that would go on to shape entire generations of thoroughbred bloodlines.

Sometimes the legend isn't just the one who wins the races. Sometimes it's the one who raises the next legend.
