There was a time when a black, red, and white Air Jordan 1 was unable to stay on shelves. That’s not the case anymore for the Retro High OG as the brand has yet to rebound from the diminished levels of consumer interest due to over-saturation and relatively “mid” colorway concepts. Still, the Jumpman is pushing forward with the high-top model, introducing a cracked leather aesthetic on this Air Jordan 1 “Varsity Red”.

Currently penciled in for a May 31st, 2025 launch date, these “Varsity Red” Jordan 1s follow a once-iconic color-blocking formula. The tone-toe style, seen in smash hits like the Shattered Backboards, Bred Toes, and so on, is repurposed on this exclusive release, differentiating from other quintessential Air Jordan color schemes with the metallic, cracked leather exterior. This elevated take appears on the toe-box heel, and ankle collar, while the Wings logo forgoes the standard debossing in favor of a hardware piece. Leather-wrapped hangtags boasting the iconic Nike Air are also attached.

Jordan Brand’s persistence in getting their Retro footwear as exact as possible has been a godsend for Jumpman fanatics. From the shape to the materials to the distinct shades of reds, the overall ex*****on of Air Jordans are first-rate. Such is the case for the black-tongued Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red”, currently set to launch in September later this year.

While not the first time the Fire Red Jordan 5s were brought back to market, there has never been a Retro as tip-top like this. For many, this is indeed the first true Retro release of this all-time classic from 1990, because it’s the only time the original Nike Air branding on the heel and the “23” jersey number has been embroidered on the heel in this specific numbering style.

In addition to the exterior details, the Jordan Brand footwear team ensured that the shape of the shoes were in line with 1990’s standards. A shallower toe-box and pinched heel reduces the bulk that have made Jordan Retros rather cumbersome to wear.

The relentless flow of 2025 Jordan Releases keeps coming. Though we’ve already seen some seismic retros, the rest of the year will hardly afford us a chance to catch our breath, captured well by the long-awaited return of the Air Jordan 5 “Grape.”

Any OG colorway will always re-capture the attention of the sneakerhead public, and with particular attention paid to original hardware throughout this year’s offerings, that’s all the more the case with the shoe at hand. Executing one of the brand’s first lifestyle (read: non Chicago Bulls themed) colorways, the shoe stands a true 90s icon with an eclectic blend of purple and teal that’s gone on to influence the Jumpman catalog since its release.

Details like a Nike Air heel are particularly geared to the long-time fans, marking the first time the shoe will carry it in its multiple retros; absent on the 2006 and 2013 pairs despite appearing on the lace-less “Fresh Prince” edition from 2018. The pair slides in alongside a number of OG and OG-minded pairs for the Jordan 5 35th anniversary. We’ve already caught one with the “Black Metallic Reimagined,” but additional heavy hitters like Fire Red 5s, the A Ma Maniere Jordan 5 and AWAKE Jordan 5 ensure that fans of the model will have a tough time picking out which to focus in on.

Following the release of the Air Jordan 3 “Black Cat” earlier in January, Jordan Brand is offering the opposite site of the bookend by releasing the Air Jordan 3 “Pure Money.” Originally dropping in 2007, this classic Retro colorway is due to be part of the massive 2025 slate of Jordan Releases.

Whereas the aforementioned “Black Cat” was a nod to Michael Jordan’s animalistic on-court alter-ego, the “Pure Money” offered up a far more angelic and soothing spin on the iconic Air Jordan 3. All-White Air Jordans were quite unusual at the time, but that’s why these stood out with ease. Featuring an all-white leather upper, white-on-white elephant print textures on the toe-guard and heel, touches of glossy patent leather on the mudguard, and silver hits on the lace eyelets, these Jordan 3s were celebrated for its simplicity and elegance and likely played a role in the more refined colorways of Jordan Retros that followed years after.

One of the best hidden details is the “Pure Money” call-out tucked behind the flaps of the heel plate. That region has become the standard for hiding nuanced details; you’ll often see collaborators place secret messaging and easter eggs in the same manner.

Although the images are crude, we do have a first look at the upcoming July release below; it features the same assortment of details — silver eyelets, silver Jumpman Air branding on the heel, and the same “Pure Money” touch.

The White Cement 4s are considered to be among the best Jordans ever released. Originally hitting stores in 1989, this white/grey colorway has had a considerable history in Jordan Brand Retro business as it has needed little to garner attention from Air Jordan fanatics worldwide. The last recorded release came during All-Star Weekend of 2016; now nine years later, the iconic colorway is expected to hit stores.
