It’s a zipper day!
Day 15 training for intro to industry apparel sewing.

How appreciative are we of zippers? So very useful, on so many applications. So many types; coil, plastic, metal, invisible, small #3 up to #10 or 12 in apparel.

I love when the type of zipper is carefully considered in garment design, it can make or break the aesthetic and functionality of the product. My favourite under-utilized type is a two-way zipper, which allows the zip to also be opened from the bottom. Great for long jackets & coats to allow for comfortable ease when sitting.

Today is the day!! 2 years in the making and the apparel sewing training has started! It’s a full house.
Thank you to Rob at Vertical Madness for hosting the training and Northwest Skills for coming over from Vancouver to put on the training.

I am so thrilled to announce that funding for our sewing training program has been approved! 🤩✨

Start date October 30th for 8 weeks, in Campbell River.
We are hosting apparel based industrial sewing training for 15 lucky participants! Fully funded 🙌

I have been working on bringing this to the island for 2 years, this dream has finally come to fruition!

There are so many supporters I would like to thank, from the bottom of my heart -THANK YOU!
Especially those who wrote letters of support, they were so impressive 🤩 and really put this campaign over the top 💖
