What looks like a “decent” lawn…
usually has this hiding underneath.

All of this came out of one property today.
Dead grass buildup that blocks air, water, and nutrients.

The Ducar dethatcher did its job, cleaned it out and let the lawn breathe again.

Early spring is the time for it!!!

What is dethatching?

Over time, lawns build up a layer of dead grass and debris underneath the green you see on top. That layer can start to block water, air, and nutrients from getting down where it needs to go.

Dethatching is just the process of pulling that out and letting the lawn breathe again.

It’s one of those things that doesn’t look pretty right away… you’ll see a lot of brown grass come up. But that’s exactly what you want. It helps the lawn come back thicker and healthier once the season gets going.

Timing is important too. Early spring is the best time to do it. Those first couple weeks once the ground dries up a bit. That’s when the lawn can recover the quickest and really benefit from it.

It’s also a great time to put down your spring fertilizer right after, since everything can get down into the soil the way it should.
