This week, we stumbled across one of the sweetest little tees we’ve seen in ages. This is the Boxy Lace Tee by Churchmouse Yarns and Teas. It features stunning lace design and would look amazing either as a boxier sweater or size down for a more fitted silhouette. The pattern is written for up to a 66” finished size bust. The pattern also suggests two completely wonderful but totally different yarn … a heavier plant based yarn for keeping you cool (hello Creative Linen!) or for some lightweight softness and warmth, Alpaca Classic. We think this sweater would look fantastic both on its own or layered with a long sleeve tee for cooler weather. Lots of versatility in this piece!

Tour de Fleece is upon us again! It starts Saturday, July 4th and runs until July 26th. We have some beautiful naturally coloured, locally grown wool roving for handspinning (in-store only) and a few Fox Mountain spindles available for eager spinners. Pop round to the shop to get prepped for your tour!

Kim and Ken spent the day at the Wildwinds farm yesterday skirting wool from one of our favourite local flocks. We have a jumbo bag of beautiful Wildwinds wool to begin processing today.

Welcome to our cozy new space in the shop! We have a bistro set for customers to sit at, our store library for quick references, a ball winding station where you can cake your own yarn, and our felting supply corner (with more colour additions to come over this week). This little spaces is really shaping up!

Good news felters! We’re happy to share will be stocking roving in the shop again. We’ve created a fun new space for roving and felting supplies to live. Roving will be available in-store only beginning middle of next week. We’ve also got core wool/batting and some locally grown handspinning roving (just in time for Tour de Fleece!). Pop in for a visit and check out of woolly goodies made on-site!

Canada Day is fast approaching and we wanted to share with our lovely customers that our shop will be open from 10AM - 5PM. Pop in to the shop for a visit and peruse our selection of soft and bouncy PEI wool milled on site.

One of the best things about knitting that we often overlook in these wild and crazy days is the benefit of slowing down. Knitting, by its very nature, is a slower craft. We create fabric, stitch by stitch. We craft useful, cozy, and beautiful things. What if we took a little extra time to really enjoy the process?

Like the fine china that we’re “saving for good”, our knitting books can have a tendency to be relegated to our shelves … occasionally perused and then put back for a later date. Why don’t we make this summer the season of the knitting book? Get out those beauties and knit something special with them! Take your time … savour the project and experience.

Today we’re featuring Laine’s 52 Weeks of Socks. This book is full of stunning sock patterns just begging to be chosen and knit. Simone has recently started a pair of the “Branches” socks by Amanda Jones and we think they would look spectacular in our Point Prim Sock in Fir, Autumn Birch, or Amethyst Brooch colourways.

ELISE CAMPBELL explores the sculptural side of fibre through wet felting and prefelt techniques. Her workshops guide participants through shaping wool into functional and decorative pieces, from custom-felted mittens to delicate lacework scarves.

Elise was recently scouted and interviewed by the Homo Faber Organization and will be featured in the Canadian launch of fine craft Canadian artists!
