🌀 The story behind the “quilt raffle”:
My Mom has been struggling to keep the family home heated. She is a deaf senior who due to various reasons is unable to participate as a labourer in the fishing industry like she has for the past 50+ years but so happens to be a master traditional quiltmaker.
January 26th, was my Grandmother’s birthday so I knew I needed to launch this raffle today because, since her passing in 2020, it has understandably been a challenge to keep the family homestead afloat without her. 💔
However, I firmly believe Mom should be able to live in her life-long home as long as she physically can. I think people should live independently safe with dignity as long as they can. Your ticket purchase will go directly to providing much-needed support to her in heating her home and keeping her warm and cozy this winter. ❄️
The quilt will be raffled off live. This raffle will cover the materials, and months of labour to complete this incredibly functional 100% handmade piece of art. It includes either delivery by me right to your door (if you live in NS or NB) or shipping to the winner if you are outside these provinces. 🚗
