After eight years, Dana and I are finally taking a few weeks off during the summer!

After eight great years ( with a few hiccups along the way ) Dana, Matthew and staff are taking a few weeks off to rest and recharge before the fall season arrives.

We've been working away at your repairs and orders, as well as our new to us travel trailer that we hope to get some use out of this summer!

We will be closed from August 25th until September 8th.

Keep an eye on the social media channels for updates as we might have a few "drop off days" scheduled in there for your repair drop offs, as well as a few new and exciting announcements as we head into late summer / fall season(s)!

Hey folks! Just a quick heads-up: we’ll be closed Friday, July 24th and Saturday, July 25th 2026 because we’re heading up to the Cochrane Polar Bear Park for the awesome “Heritage Days” event!
We’ll be running live demonstrations, showing off our work, and bringing a selection of shoes, boots, and leathergoods for sale right there on site. Come on by if you’re in the area, it’s gonna be a fun one!

Our custom beaded hats are making their debut at our next event.

Each hat is handcrafted by Dana, (indigenous artist) with detailed beadwork and produced in limited quantities only.

Pre-orders are now open through July.

Only a limited number will be made, with several other exciting projects in the works.

Custom leather engravings will also be available for that personal touch.

We're hiring at Poor Boy Soles in Cobalt!

A note before the blurb:

Over the past while, our lead times for both custom shoes & boots and repair work have stretched longer than we’d like.

After some hesitation, while we confirmed that demand was still strong and the economy continues to, well, doing whatever it is doing... or improve (better late than never!), we’ve decided it’s time to expand in services, equipment, and staff.

Recent slower turnaround times were also due to some tough family matters we’ve been navigating, with those behind us, we’re back!

We’re now growing the team so we can get back to the fast, high-quality custom work and repairs that our clients expect from us.

Shoe Repair Technician / Cobbler-in-Training (Part-time & Full-time)

Fun, hands-on work in a lively historic shop

Intense training + real craftsmanship skills

Loud music, lots of coffee, and zero running with scissors

If you’re a decent human who’s patient, detail-oriented, and up for learning a trade, we’d love to hear from you.
