In the ancient Mediterranean, the bull was a potent symbol of strength and divine power, while the cow often represented fertility and the nurturing earth. Flanking this central figure are smaller versions of the bovine head and beads shaped like acorns, which served as protective charms symbolising longevity and the hidden potential for greatness. Towards the back, the sequence transitions into the roaring faces of felines, probably intended to watch over the wearer from behind.
By wearing such a piece, the owner was not just displaying wealth; she was adorning herself with the protection and abundance of the natural world, believing these sacred symbols would draw those very qualities into her life.
