A Duck Thought.......
Updating one’s wardrobe can be a costly adventure not all of us can afford. An easier way to do so is to manage it by buying piece by piece, trying to keep costs down, picking items that will last in quality as well as being classic items to stay in fashion for longer period of time.
Let us say that you are doing just that, watching your money, buying piece by piece, making sure that what you are buying is of good quality, and is classic in design. Then you have the option of using inexpensive accessories such as jewellery, hats, belts, and scarves to help in creating updated and stylish looks.
Let us take a look at scarves. There are a variety of sizes, shapes, and colours to choose from, and once you have picked the one you like best, you have even more options to choose from how to wear them. For rectangular scarves, there are many ways to wear them. Here are a few suggestions.
1. The Boho – Hold the middle of the scarf at the front of your neck, wrap the ends around the back, the back over to the front again. Allow to hang loosely.
2. The Loop – Fold the scarf in two. Hold it behind your neck with the fold on one side and the scarf ends at the other. Separate the fold to make a hole and pass the two scarf ends through it. Allow to hang loosely.
3. The Weave – Follow the same instruction as that of “The Loop” but instead of passing both ends through the hold, split them up. Pass one end through the hole, then thread the other through beside it in the opposite way. Creating an under/over weave affect.
4. The Cowl – Hold the middle of the scarf at the front of your neck, wrap the ends around and back over to the front. Tie the ends in a knot behind the first wrap and tuck the ends under it. Adjust the front part so it sits loose and casually covering the knot.
5. The Ascot Wrap – Hold the middle of the scarf at the front of your neck and wrap the scarf ends around your neck and back to the front. Cross the two ends together at the front and tie a loose knot.
6. The Twist and Fling – Hold the middle of the scarf at the back of your neck and cross the ends at the front of the neck, “flinging” each end over your shoulder and down your back.
7. Cross Your Heart – Hold the middle of your scarf at the back of you neck. Cross the ends of the scarf in the front, tucking the ends under your arms and tie them at the back.
8. The Knotted Necklace – Fold the scarf in half and drape it around your neck bringing one end of the scarf through the loop. Take the loop and twist, capturing the loose end and creating a new loop. Pull the remaining long end of the scarf through the new loop. Pull each loose end over your shoulders to the back of your neck and hide the ends under the scarf. Adjust to your liking.
9. The Loop-D-Loop – Fold the scarf in half and drape around the neck. Pull both ends of the scarf through the loop. Take the loose ends and pull them up and under creating a new loop. Pull the loose ends through the new loop, tighten, and adjust to your liking.
10. The Celebrity – (This one uses a square scarf.) Hold scarf from one corner at the bias making it extra long. Tie the two longest corners together. Loop the scarf around your neck. (Same as a faux infinity.) Fluff and adjust for a fuller look.
11. The Shawl – (This one uses a square scarf.) Fold square in half and wear it around the shoulders. Tie a knot in the front in any position you would like.
These easy and stylish looks are a quick way to add flare and update your wardrobe. Have fun trying all these looks.
