See antiques.
Buy said antiques.
Hang them in your home.
Stand back and admire your excellent decisions.
This is exactly why I love antiques. They don’t just fill a space—they make a home feel like you.
Every night, I soak in my old clawfoot tub, look out the curtainless window at the trees and take in this slightly odd, very Erin little room I’ve created.
There’s the new-to-me phrenology chart, the old portraits, the Queen, the worn child’s press-back chair that happens to be the perfect height for my books, glass of wine and readers, and the imperfect painted vanity that was once a tool bench in an old shop.
None of it matches, and somehow it all belongs.
Antiques truly are part of my everyday life. I don’t just sell them. I live with them, rearrange them, stare at them and let them make me happy.
The painted panel board was my budget-friendly way of getting the look of shiplap, and the black paint and black tub haven’t changed since I designed this room 16 years ago. I still love those choices today, which feels like a pretty good sign that I got something right.
The pieces shown here are from my own home and, sorry, they’re not for sale. Some things I simply can’t part with.
