Our History
Originally from Kitzingen, Germany, our family has been in the garment industry for more than 150 years. Johann Valentin Wagner founded our family enterprise in 1841 when he opened a fabric and garment dyeing business. Three generations later and at the peak of its success, Wagner Reinigung employed 50 people, operated four full-service drycleaning outlets, and had 130 drop-off locati
ons in northern Bavaria. Today, Elisabeth and her son Frank (he's the fourth generation) continue our family tradition in Canada by operating Wagner's European Fabricare, a full-service drycleaning establishment with two locations. That may sound like an oxymoron but it's not. At Wagner's, we have the best European training in drycleaning and textiles and we have more than 35 years of combined industry experience in garment care. As your local drycleaner, yes, we launder shirts, we clean garments and we provide expert alterations. But, as your professional drycleaners, we know more than just how to press a pair of pants or remove a stain. We know how to restore an old pillow by cleaning the down and replacing the ticking. We know how to clean and preserve your yellowing wedding dress and your family's vintage christening gown. And we are willing to help solve your drycleaning dilemmas with professional advice and customer care.
