HOLY SMOKE SHOW! Very unexpected and incredible find today - a late 1930s and veiled headpiece in PERFECT condition.

Courtesy of the lovely manager at the MCC thrift who saw my other purchases and asked if I wanted to come into the back sorting room and look at a “really old wedding dress” she hadn’t put out yet. God dammit yes ma’am I do.

You can find this dress in an upcoming drop of all the amazing items treasure hunted this winter from the turn of the century through the sixties - plus one exceptional that is every dream 💍

Simple 💋, classic 💄and modern 🌹 little black dress easily dressed up, but comfortable enough to be a casual easy wear that still conveys a bit of "fancy". Never worn, retail tags still attached. A perfect office or errands-about-town dress in a rare Size 11/12.

A sheer cream slip of a dress, light as a feather. Romantic and airy with a drape over the body that encourages movement and freedom. 1980s does 1920s, or 1970s depending on how you style it!

What’s your perfect day look like? ☀️

My great-grandmother’s perfect day when she was getting on in years was asking someone to drive her around to “look at the crops.” She’d sit in the back like a queen and yell at the driver if they went too fast for her to be able to see properly what everyone was planting.

My perfect day starts when it’s still early enough to need a sweater in the morning. Get a coffee and start driving, Don Williams “Lord I hope this day is good” plays on the radio of a vehicle old enough to sail over the slight dips in the backroad as we drive through tiny towns where we cruise garage sales and antique shops. Windows get rolled down, stories get told, ci******es are smoked and coffees get refilled at roadside gas stations where there is no pay-at-the-pump option. Eventually we stop for a cold river swim when the sun gets high. Back in the car with wet hair, CSNY blaring loud so there’s no need to talk anymore while we head home to get supper started.

Life is good.

🌹Coming Soon 🌹 This exquisite robe has been in my collection for 18 years…One of my most favourite finds EVER in the history of my thrifting career. I remember spotting it on a rack of “coats”, just hanging there nonchalantly in all her glory, and my breath actually caught in my throat at how perfect she was. I could never bring myself to wear it, it was just too beautiful, but hopefully out there is someone who can do her justice 🙏
