She was, and still is, such an inspiration for me. And she always carried a message of hope, like the one she shares in the second half of this reel. 💕

I am learning about Yeshua’s (Jesus) teachings translated directly from his Aramaic language by Neil Douglas-Klotz, who is a Semitic language scholar.

One of the fascinating things I have learned is that the word Yeshua used for God was Alaha. Neil translates this word for God to mean “Sacred Unity.”

If Alaha sounds reminiscent of the Arabic word Allah, used by Muslims, that’s no accident. Both words have the same root meaning, and apparently some Aramaic Christians use the word Allah for God, even today. Alaha also shares the same roots as the Hebrew Elohim.

The root AL or EL means “something”
And the root LA or LO means “nothing”
And the HA in Alaha essentially means “life energy” or “embodied life”

This concept of embodied life as the union of opposites is not specific to the Semitic faiths.

In Taoism, life is made possible by a dynamic interplay of yin (something, tangible, feminine) and yang (nothing, intangible, masculine) energies, as evidenced in the taiji/Taichi symbol also known as the yin-yang symbol. This symbol is often portrayed as a static two-dimensional image but in reality is in constant movement, constant flux.

And in Hinduism, embodied life is composed of a dynamic relationship between Purusha (eternal, formless, masculine, associated with Shiva) and Prakriti (manifest reality, lived experience, feminine, associated with Shakti). The interdependence of these masculine and feminine aspects is represented by Ardhanarishvara, who is half God and half Goddess.

As a human race, we have so much more in common with each other than we may initially realize, until we take the time to get to know each other’s perspectives and see the common threads.

I hope one day the cultures of the Middle East can realize how much they have in common, and develop a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood between them.

Whatever you are celebrating this holiday season, I wish you peace, love and happiness!!

Ever since I started learning the translation of Yeshua’s (Jesus’s) teachings directly from his Aramaic language, I have been wanting to understand more about The Great Sophia (Holy Wisdom).

Today, on Friday the 13th, day of the Goddess, I finally heard a translation that clarified a lot for me, so I thought it would share it here. The translation was done by Neil Douglas-Klotz and is included in his audiobook The Healing Breath.

“The power sent me.
I appear in the minds I make restless.
I am found within by those who look for me.
If I disturb your mind with images,
why not look at them?
If you can hear me in a sound,
why not listen?
Whoever waits for me, here I am.
Embrace me.
Don’t deny you’ve seen me.
Don’t shut my sound out of your ears,
or your voice.
You cannot fail to know me,
anywhere or anytime,
for I am both what knows and what denies knowledge.
Be aware, this moment.
Don’t claim ignorance of this mind.
For I am, first and last,
honoured and dishonoured,
pr******te and saint,
experienced and virginal.
I am the silence not grasped by the mind—
the image you can’t forget.
I am the voice of every natural sound,
the word that always reappears.
I am the intonation of my name.
Hoo-hum-ma
The breath returning from form to its source.
I am knowledge and ignorance,
I am timid and bold,
shamed and shameless.
I am strength, I am fear,
I am war and peace.
Listen to me—I am infamous and renowned.
I am She who shudders in all your fears,
and who shakes in your moments of power.
I am the one in you who becomes sick,
and I am the one who is completely healthy.
I am no sensation,
and I am The Sense,
The Wisdom Of All.”

HALF LIFE

By Gibran Kahlil Gibran
Translated by: Ciara Taylor, Emily Kennelly, Erica Behrens, Sara Watar, Tamar Fleshler & Afaf Nash (Arabic students at the University of Southern California)

Love not a half lover, nor befriend a half friend.
Indulge not in the work of the half-talented.
Live not a half life, nor die a half death.
Choose not a half solution, nor stand in the middle of a truth.
Dream not a half dream, nor cling to a half hope.
If you choose to be silent, be silent to the end.
And if you choose to speak, speak to the end.
Let not your silence speak for you, nor your speech silence you.
If you agree, express your agreement, do not feign your acceptance.
A half life is a life you have not lived, a word you have not said, a smile you have not expressed,a love you have not felt, and a friendship you have not known.
A half life makes you a stranger to intimates, and your intimates strangers.
A half life is what you reach but never attain and where you strive but never succeed.
It is where you are both absent and present.
It is where you are not yourself, for you have never known yourself.
And thus whom you love is not your true soul mate.
A half life is where you are present in different places at the same time.
A half drink does not satisfy your thirst, nor a half meal your hunger.
A half path leads you nowhere, and a half thought yields no result.
A half life is a moment of weakness, but you are not weak, for you are not a half person.
You are a person! You exist to live a full life, not a half life.
