Merry Christmas all, I am so happy, I dropped off the gifts for the kids at Metis Child and Family Services, 110 stockings, headbands, bow ties, mini medallions and more skirts. I had a good little cry, fills my heart to know that our kids in care will get a little indigenous handmade gift. And to remind them they belong to us.

Update! Here is the receipt for the fabric I bought with the cash donations. The fleece I purchased is for 110 stockings for kids in care. I have finished 75 so far and I will hopefully finish them this weekend. I ran out of white fleece for the topper and I will be picking some up later this week. Sorry it took me so long to check in with you all. I get tunnel vision when I am sewing and preparing for the upcoming event. Thank you for your patience and I will post photos of the stockings when they are completed 😜❤️

This project was created to promote a Spiritual and Cultural connection to our Indigenous Children in care or related programs. It is a way to let these children know that they belong to a Proud Nation of People and we care. We all recognize the trickle down effect of traumatizing events of the Residential School System and the inter-generational impact it has on all of us to this day. I have seen the damage and the struggle for many families and watched as our children are caught up in this cycle. So many are in foster care and it breaks my heart, What I have begun is reaching out to them in the only way I know how, I have been making Ribbon Skirts, Shirts, Dreamcatchers, Beaded Barrettes, Pop Sockets, Mini and Adult Medallions. I have chosen the Metis Child and Family Services to partner with at this time and hope to grow to include other groups and services as well. To date I have donated 16 Ribbon Skirts, 1 Ribbon Shirt, 39 Dreamcatchers, 4 Beaded
Barrettes, 4 pop sockets, 20 mini medallions, 3 adult medallions. I am continuing to make more of everything, I will also be making Christmas Stockings. My goal is to have a gift for approximately 130 children by Christmas. It is my belief these gifts will create a connection for these children to our Nation, the message is "You belong, You are a Gift from the Creator and we can't wait for you to come back Home.
