$40 - Brass bonsai wall hanging to glam up your space without cluttering up your surfaces!

This piece is a good size and has 2 intact hooks on the back to hold it steady. This is real brass, and requires occasional cleaning. Thankfully, if kept up, cleaning takes 5 minutes.

This beauty would be a dynamic addition to any gallery wall.

$25 - Beautifully minimal copper candlesticks to adorn your tablescape. Snazzy enough to elevate your dinner, but not so obtuse that they'll steal the show. These work well with midcentury, minimal, Scandinavian, bohemian, or 70s revival styles.

$5 - A very nice, THICK handmade vase. Absolutely no chips, and a very beautiful brown colour. This vase would suit many different decor styles including 70s revival, Scandinavian, bohemian, and modern!

$125 - What a find! A vintage (well, 1990s at least) Trådig fruit bowl/pendant light shade.

Trådig is an Ehlén Johansson/Ikea collaboration. This fire truck red wire metal fruit bowl/fruit basket doubles as a midcentury modern pendant light shade AND as super swanky plant decor!

It is a rare find, but we snagged it as soon as we spotted it.

Measurements: 12 inches in diameter, 8 inches high. Bowl is about 5.5 inches deep. (30cm in diameter, 20cm high. Bowl is about 14cm deep.)

$20 - This atomic serving platter made us do a double-take and had to come back with us. Designed by Gourmates Canada, it hails from the Glo-Hill line, an excellent example of midcentury servingware.

Shiny chrome pairs exquisitely with deep red handles/legs. Easy to clean, but a real stunner, this might be the piece to zhuzh up your dinner party game.

For a secondhand experience you're not likely to forget, check out the Ross Creek Flea Market!
It was a beautiful but chilly day as we chatted up the vendors and scored some sweet finds!
Highlight items that we brought home: ceramic cat-with-a-pouffy-hat statue ($3), handmade antler and table leg pipe ($25), antler ring ($3).

Update: Gone to a loving home!

Fundraiser for Ukraine 🇺🇦

This cedar and pine chest has been painted calming LICHEN by Fusion Mineral Paint and coated on the exterior with an environmentally friendly lavender hard wax. The inside has been massaged with lemony beeswax to bring out the beauty of the red cedar (it smells SO GOOD inside). Special consideration should be taken when putting items on top of the chest. The hard wax needs until May 1st to cure completely before leaving items on top.

This piece inspired me at a very stressful time in my life. Several family members were fleeing Ukraine, experiencing long traffic delays at the border, all the while my dad remained behind (thankfully in a safe town not affected by violence). I could see so much in the history of the chest. Its lock had been removed (safer for children), and the lid rebuilt entirely with new lumber (possibly beetle-killed pine). There were some dings and scratches, abuse from a previous owner. I could have filled and sanded it all away for an ultramodern finish, but for some reason, I didn't want to. I wanted to embrace the history, and in some cases, enhance the natural beauty of the imperfections. I love how it turned out, still in my style but allowed to express its past. There is a slight crack on the right side of the chest (seen in picture 5), but it doesn't affect the beauty or integrity of the piece.

All monies received for this chest will be donated to a fundraising campaign and go to Ukrainian families affected by the war. What they choose to do with their portion of the money is completely up to them.

UPDATE: Gone to a new home!

Hello! It's been too long since I've posted a proper furniture rehab. Winter posed a lot of challenges, but next year, I'll be MUCH better prepared.

I picked up these sweet little homemade nightstands last summer, and decided they needed a major makeover. I stripped the drawers and gave them a warm stain. The body had nicks and dings filled, and then got a fresh coat of SEASIDE by Fusion Mineral Paint. The inside of the drawers were conditioned with lemony beeswax, and the exterior got an extra coat of lavender hard wax (needs to cure for 30 days).

Measurements: 26.25 inches tall x 14.25 inches wide x 12.5 deep (67cm tall x 36cm wide x 32cm deep)
