"BEAUTY FROM THE PAST", the planned quilting class using antique linens, will begin later than planned. Samples are being made and I will post the start date a couple of weeks before class begins. Using antique linens as their focal point, participants will be encouraged to play with a variety of fabric textures in crazy quilt squares. Different stabilizers and adhesives will be used as best fits each project; needle and thread combinations will be covered; and stitches used will be dictated by the machine used. Even the most basic sewing machine can produce a beautiful finished project. This class is very relaxing, and encourages playing with all your machine has to offer. Fun for all!

From "heirloom" to "just finished"...
Betty shared her family "heirloom" quilt with us (all the star pieces are hand stitched), while Aurora was good enough to share her and her mom's "just finished" project. My understanding is the star portion of the quilt was stitched nearly a century ago. Family members helped finish the quilt to completion.
So precious to be able to share this with you. Thank you to all!

The Final Product - Wow!!!
So much talent evolved when a number of fun and fabulous individuals participated in the "Quilt As You Go - Applique" class. Everyone came up with their own unique applique designs, which enabled all participants to learn a wide variety of applique techniques and threadwork.
Although not visible in the photos, there was some pretty awesome free motion quilting on these projects - impressive!
You all did an amazing job - and I thank you for allowing me to share photos of the 5 projects completed to date. There are 3 more projects not yet completed - pictures will follow at a later date...

"FROM APPLIQUE TO QUILT" Sewing Class begins Wed., Feb. 4th, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. This is a 3 session class Wednesday evenings from 6:00-9:00. Very easy class in which participants use a variety of stitches on their machine to create an appliqued picture of their choosing. The subject of your quilt can range from a simple flower to a scene depicting a number of subjects/objects.
Participants learn to work with applique techniques, use the rotary cutting tools, learn different layering methods, and add borders as desired to reach the desired size of quilt. Borders are quilted as they are added, so a regular home sewing machine can handle this project nicely.
Fun quilt for sewists of all levels. You can play as much as you like with that centre design, trying new threads and machine stitches.
Teaching fee: $40 plus gst.

Weather may dictate whether or not I'm open Dec. 27.

"EXTENDED SQUARE" SUNDAY CLASSES now being offered, beginning November 16th, 2025 and running 3 consecutive Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. See the previous post regarding the Wednesday classes for details. "EXTENDED SQUARE" QUILT & SEWING CLASS begins Wed., Nov. 5th, 2025. This 3-session class runs from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and is geared towards beginner sewers to more experienced sewists just wanting to have fun stitching. Basic rotary cutting techniques will be covered, as well as guidance on stitching, layering and quilting your project. Your project can be a small table topper or runner; or a quilt the size of your choosing.
Teaching fee is $40.00; and Divine Stitches offers 15% off all course supplies. Your patronage is appreciated.
