"ANTIQUE LINEN SEWING & QUILTING CLASS begins Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. This class encourages participants to use one or more of those beautiful antique linens ( crocheted, embroidered, sewn, etc.) to create something unique that can become a part of your daily environment - perhaps more useable and suited to your current lifestyle.
Projects can be as small as a table topper or runner. Crazy quilt squares are created to enhance the planned project, while keeping with the "antique" theme. You don't need a fancy machine to create variety in these squares. Fabric and thread options are endless.
Participants learn basic quilting techniques - from designing your quilt top to quilting it and putting on the binding. You'll use rotary cutting tools; and thread and needle combinations will be covered to ensure success in stitching decorative patterns on your squares.
Class Fee: $40.00; Participants receive 15% discount on supplies purchased in store; Runs 3 evenings, possibly more...
Easy, light-hearted class - all skill levels.

SOMETHING NEW! Beautiful linen pieces now being sold by the piece...a variety of textures in prints and solids. Great for summer wearables, home decor and all sorts of accessories. Think drapey and soft of hand...
Also, several pant weight fabrics in a variety of fibre content and textures. Sold by the piece. Some wovens, some twill weave, some stretch and some non-stretch.
Mix and match for some fun creations...

"BEAUTY FROM THE PAST", the planned quilting class using antique linens, will begin later than planned. Samples are being made and I will post the start date a couple of weeks before class begins. Using antique linens as their focal point, participants will be encouraged to play with a variety of fabric textures in crazy quilt squares. Different stabilizers and adhesives will be used as best fits each project; needle and thread combinations will be covered; and stitches used will be dictated by the machine used. Even the most basic sewing machine can produce a beautiful finished project. This class is very relaxing, and encourages playing with all your machine has to offer. Fun for all!

From "heirloom" to "just finished"...
Betty shared her family "heirloom" quilt with us (all the star pieces are hand stitched), while Aurora was good enough to share her and her mom's "just finished" project. My understanding is the star portion of the quilt was stitched nearly a century ago. Family members helped finish the quilt to completion.
So precious to be able to share this with you. Thank you to all!

The Final Product - Wow!!!
So much talent evolved when a number of fun and fabulous individuals participated in the "Quilt As You Go - Applique" class. Everyone came up with their own unique applique designs, which enabled all participants to learn a wide variety of applique techniques and threadwork.
Although not visible in the photos, there was some pretty awesome free motion quilting on these projects - impressive!
You all did an amazing job - and I thank you for allowing me to share photos of the 5 projects completed to date. There are 3 more projects not yet completed - pictures will follow at a later date...
