The Fort McMurray SPCA could really use some help right now.

97 ANIMALS HAVE ARRIVED AT THE SHELTER
Yes, you read that correctly, a group of 97 animals were taken into the Fort McMurray SPCA this week. This is the largest number of animals we have ever had arrive at the shelter at one time, and our team is working around the clock to get everyone settled, assessed and cared for.
Right now, we are still:
• Identifying medical concerns
• Assessing behaviour and individual needs
• Getting everyone organized and settled
• Creating a plan for the care and placement of these animals
We know our community is going to have questions, and we know many of you are going to want to help. We are incredibly grateful. But right now, what we need most is a little time to organize and plan. This was unexpected and doubled our animals over nights.

PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE SHELTER TO SEE THE NEW ARRIVALS
These animals will not be available for viewing or adoption at this time. We understand that everyone is curious and wants to see the new arrivals, but allowing people to come in and visit right now would add additional stress and make it much more difficult for our team to focus on getting 97 animals safely settled and cared for. Our immediate priority is to continue providing the high level of care our animals receive every day, while also ensuring these new arrivals receive the same care, attention and compassion.
