TW: Postpartum Depression

Sharing an old video at a time when PPD seems to be all over our feeds. If this makes one mom feel less alone, I’m glad to have it out there for all to see.

Intrusive thoughts are a common symptom of Postpartum Depression. My intrusive thoughts took up A LOT of brain space.

Maybe you think: “You’re a mom, it’s your job to think about safety”, but when those thoughts seep into every second of your day, make it impossible to function or become illogical, you need some help with this.

It’s also a concern when the thoughts go from “something will happen to hurt my baby” to “I’m going to do something to hurt my baby” - for me THIS is the hardest part to share. I was scared people would think I was a bad mother, because WHO in their right mind would think these horrible things!?

Hint: ME! and also: I wasn’t in my right mind.

In my experience, speaking the thoughts out loud takes their power away and seeking help makes you the best mom. Talk to your doctor, call a crisis line, speak to a trusted friend or family member.

I wanted to share my experience, hoping it can help someone recognize a need for help. The Pacific Post Partum Support Society was an enormous support to me https://postpartum.org/. As were the medications my family doctor prescribed.

Also: I’m here if you need someone to talk to. I promise: nothing you say will scare me and I think you’re a wonderful mom ❤️

Yes, we go up to size 18 (the biggest kid size that exists). Grade 8 & 9 kids shop here!

Yes we have clothes for an 18 month old baby, but also all the way up to pr***en.

Please tell your friends, because some ppl are still confused. 🙃
